Brendan Steele grew up in the mountains of Idyllwild, California, where the nearest golf course was forty five minutes away. Golf was not on his radar as a kid; instead he was committed to soccer and baseball. He began playing golf in his mid-teenage years after his older brother attracted him to the sport. Once he started playing, he became addicted. His immediate success and athleticism led him to play college golf at the University of California, Riverside.
In 2010, Steele had four top ten finishes including a tournament victory at the Nationwide Tour Championships on the Web.com Tour. He received his Tour card in 2011 and claimed his first PGA Tour title at the Valero Texas Open in April of that year.
His relationship with Wilson Golf commenced when he began testing FG Tour 100 irons on the range in the fall of 2014. Not long after, on Halloween, he posted an Instagram picture of a pumpkin carved with a Wilson Staff shield on it, claiming, “Happy to announce my new partnership with Wilson Golf.” (He credited the carving skills to his wife.)
Steele is the executive director of Grandfathers for Golf, whose mission is to introduce golf to low-income families. He enjoys watching Seinfeld and his favorite vacation spot is in Hawaii. A fun fact about Brendan Steele? His uncle, Anthony Geary, played Luke on General Hospital.
